January 2024, in Eure-et-Loir, miscanthus continues its senescence phase under the snow.
The senescence phase is a key stage in miscanthus cultivation. Miscanthus does not require any inputs, due to :
1. Harvesting after the senescence phase ;
2. Because a high proportion of the biomass produced each year returns to the soil.
This means that miscanthus can be grown without inputs for at least 20 years!
