Miscanthus in stalls - technical day in Seine-Maritime
Day co-organized by Novabiom and the Normandy Chamber of Agriculture with Bastien Langlois and Marion BOUCHER.
Some fifteen farmers came to meet Germain and Thomas Trouvay in Saint Jean de Folleville (76) to discuss miscanthus cultivation and learn more about its use as bedding, and how to manage erosion problems by setting up plots.
On the Germain and Thomas farm, 5 ha of miscanthus in 2020 and 2022:
- the first intention was to combat erosion, to solve the problem of mudslides affecting local residents downstream of agricultural plots.
- miscanthus is used during the sowing period on the heifers' mulched area, to reduce daily mulching and free up a tractor.
- miscanthus is used as bedding on dairy cubicles for comfort, cleanliness and autonomy.
